📋 Description

• Confirm every case, statute, and regulation is still good law for the point cited • Catch negative Shepard's treatment • Catch non-existent or misdescribed cases • Verify quotes, holdings, and pin cites • Judge completeness of controlling authority and identify missed on-point cases • Keep 50-state and multi-jurisdiction splits distinct • Verify the version of the law in force on the operative date • Distinguish binding from persuasive authority • Require verify-before-finalize standards • Work on projects training and enhancing AI systems for Mercor and its partners

🎯 Requirements

• Use Lexis+ regularly—weekly or more—as part of current or recent work • 2+ years of professional legal-research experience • Reflexive Shepard's / KeyCite use • Ability to spot bad citations, misstated holdings, or superseded statutes • J.D. and bar admission, MLIS / law librarian, or equivalent research-heavy experience • Knowledge of Citators, Shepard's Citations Service, Shepard's Signal indicators, Depth of Discussion indicators, citing references, and overruling risk • Ability to distinguish overruled, superseded, depublished, and distinguished-on-facts authority • Proficiency with terms-and-connectors (Boolean), natural-language, and segment searching • Knowledge of Lexis Headnotes, Case Summaries, Case Notes, Protégé, and Shepard's Graphical • Knowledge of treatises, ALR, American Jurisprudence, practice guides, Practical Guidance, and 50-state surveys • Knowledge of annotated statutes and regulations, version comparison, historical and effective-date versions, and currentness • Knowledge of Litigation Analytics, Lex Machina, Brief Analysis, dockets, CourtLink, and PACER • Must be able to work as an independent contractor • Mercor cannot support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates
