📋 Description

• Work on research-level physics problems in the candidate's own subfield • Create, solve, review, or audit problems depending on publication-record fit • Produce complete written reasoning that another specialist can independently follow and verify • Apply specialized methods in special functions, integrable systems, permutation combinatorics, or conformal geometry • Provide up to five selected areas of fit with proof from the candidate's own papers • Participate in direct onboarding or a short live alignment call to agree on the area and assignment • Complete a brief 30- to 45-minute assessment if required • Contribute to CritPt, a benchmark testing whether frontier AI models can perform genuine physics research reasoning • Work asynchronously on projects supporting training and enhancement of AI systems

🎯 Requirements

• PhD in mathematical physics, theoretical physics, or mathematics (hard requirement) • Postdoctoral researchers, research scientists, and junior faculty are strongest fits • Senior PhD students with a strong first-author record may apply • Published work on at least one of the specified phenomena, not an adjacent topic • Verifiable publication record with three to five representative papers, including arXiv IDs or DOIs; first author strongly preferred • Publications must demonstrate relevant special-function analysis, integrability, combinatorial, or geometric methods • Working proficiency with LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter • Some familiarity with an agentic coding extension in VS Code is useful • English proficiency at B2 or above, including written reasoning • Must be able to commit 10 hours per week across an 8- to 10-week window, starting immediately • Independent contractor engagement • H1-B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported
