📋 Description

• Review new and transfer file assignments and prepare initial evaluation letters to claims • Serve initial discovery within 30 days of assignment • Summarize discovery responses and medical records within 30 days of receipt • Take and defend depositions of parties, lay witnesses, and expert witnesses • Complete deposition summaries within 20 days • Conduct legal research and prepare motions, oppositions, and replies • Appear in court for law and motion matters • Prepare for and conduct bench trials, jury trials, and binding arbitration • Prepare pretrial documents, motions in limine, and oppositions • Handle trial motions and posttrial motions • Perform other tasks necessary to adequately defend insured parties, including assignments from managing and senior managing attorneys • Manage a caseload defending first- and third-party personal injury lawsuits from inception through posttrial motions

🎯 Requirements

• Law degree • Admission to the bar in the state(s) where practicing • Licensed in the state(s) where practicing • Effective communication, persuasion, and analytical skills • Ability to travel by automobile for up to 20% of work time • Must meet company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status • Ability to work independently with minimal direction • Good organizational skills to manage a caseload with exposures up to $50,000 • Preferred: 3+ years as a licensed attorney with insurance defense experience • 1st and 2nd chair trial experience is a plus • Law degree from a state-accredited or ABA-accredited law school preferred
