⢠Provide secretarial and administrative support to professional legal staff. ⢠Prepare and file legal documents, motions, pleadings and legal correspondence as directed. ⢠Maintain attorneys' calendars, set court dates and appearances, and schedule meetings with witnesses and other involved parties. ⢠Maintain department records, claims, legal documents, case activity, transcripts and evidence. ⢠Support up to three litigation attorneys. ⢠Draft letters and legal documents. ⢠Prepare and assemble documents, transmittal forms and envelopes in proper format. ⢠Complete typing and word processing assignments, including correspondence, pleadings, subpoenas and related documents. ⢠Prepare documents for filing with court. ⢠Correct and edit documents to ensure proper format and accuracy. ⢠Prepare answers, cross-complaints, discovery and pleadings as directed by the handling attorney. ⢠Coordinate legal services such as court reporting, copying and delivery agencies. ⢠Ensure work is prepared and submitted on time. ⢠Apply court deadlines, Rules of Court, document-processing requirements, and office and court processes. ⢠Handle routine correspondence and inquiries with attorneys, clients, adjusters, courts and other parties by written and telephone communication. ⢠Communicate with claims, opposing counsel and clients regarding legal files. ⢠Schedule court reporters, expert witnesses and other experts for depositions and trial testimony. ⢠Classify, sort and file correspondence, articles, records and other documents. ⢠Operate word processors, typewriters, transcribing software, case management software, photocopiers and other office equipment. ⢠Schedule meetings, depositions and appointments. ⢠Assemble documents, reports and information for meetings. ⢠Arrange meeting spaces and conference rooms. ⢠Inform participants of meeting dates, times and locations. ⢠Resolve calendar conflicts and coordinate rescheduling. ⢠Track deadlines related to appearances, daily duties and upcoming assignments. ⢠Schedule internal conferences related to legal files. ⢠Update job knowledge through educational opportunities and professional publications regarding court rules and procedures.
⢠Minimum: High School diploma or GED. ⢠Minimum: Basic knowledge regarding terminology, discovery, pleadings, civil court deadlines. ⢠Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments. ⢠Organization skills with an eye for details. ⢠Ability follow directions. ⢠Typing minimum 60 wpm. ⢠Knowledge of legal terminology and legal document management, including briefs, summonses, complaints, motions, pleadings and discovery. ⢠Effective oral and written communication skills with knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage. ⢠Ability to compose/draft routine pleadings and correspondence. ⢠Ability to utilize and process available resources. ⢠Ability to accurately calendar and manage conflicts across multiple calendars. ⢠Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook. ⢠Preferred: Vocational certification or training in the legal field. ⢠Preferred: Minimum 1-2 years insurance defense or 1-2 years civil litigation experience. ⢠Relevant work experience in the legal field; equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered. ⢠Preferred: Knowledge of federal and state court rules and e-filing procedures. ⢠Preferred: Familiarity with litigation management software systems. ⢠Preferred: Ability to be flexible to adapt and act quickly when urgent matters require it. ⢠Preferred: Trial experience. ⢠An in-person interview may be required during the hiring process.
