📋 Description

• Review, analyze, and interpret provider documentation for procedure and diagnosis code selection • Audit provider coding and documentation and recommend improvements • Maintain working relationships with assigned providers and medical offices • Query providers when coding discrepancies arise • Research coding inquiries and present findings to providers and medical staff • Review hospital, clinical, and surgical documentation and assigned diagnosis and procedure codes • Release charges within the Epic system • Identify and correct discrepancies between provider code selection and medical record documentation • Present coding findings and education to providers • Work with billing partners to develop efficient coding processes and research denials • Respond to customer concerns through coding reviews requested by other departments • Conduct and document provider coding orientation and education sessions • Maintain knowledge of Epic ambulatory and hospital modules • Work as part of a team to achieve productivity goals

🎯 Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent • Two years of experience coding professional services in multiple specialties • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or other equivalent coding certification required • Extensive knowledge of official coding guidelines established by the American Medical Association (AMA), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and contracted payers • Thorough understanding of professional coding differences between clinic and hospital settings, including outpatient and inpatient coding • High skill level in applying professional coding knowledge • In-depth knowledge of Epic ambulatory and hospital modules • Problem-solving skills • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and communication skills • Analytical skills
