• Develop an understanding of the specific mechanical engineering requirements per project • Study system drawings, conveyor manifests, engineering hour estimates, project contract requirements, and options • Provide technical interface with customers’ project representatives • Define project scope and manage contract change orders • Review 3D models and maintain mechanical engineering schedules supporting installation schedules • Execute projects within contracted budgets and hours • Provide technical support to vendors, field installation personnel, and engineering subcontractors • Host and support weekly meetings with project teams and customers • Delegate and monitor tasks assigned to engineering team members • Apply knowledge of conveying systems, conveying equipment, and customer specifications and standards • Interpret and ensure compliance with customer specifications • Communicate project information with project management, purchasing, electrical engineering, field installation, and fabrication departments • Release drawings for installation and fabrication • Create material purchase requests • Communicate changes to project scope and provide regular status updates to engineering management • Identify opportunities for professional development, cost reduction, quality improvements, and enhanced customer service • Check mechanical designers’ drawings for accuracy and provide correction feedback • Perform or assist with engineering analysis in structural, mechanical power transmission, and fluid power disciplines
• Works well in a schedule-driven environment • Produces detailed, above-average work • Reads, understands, and applies customer specifications • Communicates effectively with customers, vendors, and co-workers • Above-average interpersonal skills • Organizes and prioritizes varied tasks, sets priorities, and meets critical deadlines • Understands and practices good time management • Able to multitask across multiple projects • Effectively leads and mentors project teams of 5–12 engineers and designers • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel, required • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Inventor; Navisworks and BIM are a plus • Experience with Microsoft Project is a plus • Experience with power transmission equipment and steel fabrication is a plus • Three to five years of material handling equipment experience, preferably in conveyor systems • Experience executing and supporting medium to large projects • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering and design • Some domestic travel required, approximately ±10%, depending on project needs and urgency
