Monmouth Trading Cards is a multi-location hobby retailer and online shop specializing in sports trading cards (baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, racing) and collectible trading card games like Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and Disney Lorcana. Built by collectors, it offers singles and sealed products, grading submission services, live break events, in-store events, and both fast shipping and local pickup across its stores in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Lead the QuickBooks-to-NetSuite migration end to end with the implementation partner and internal team • Design the chart of accounts, entity and location structure, and reporting segments for a multi-store, multi-channel retailer • Own integrations with point of sale, Shopify, banking, payroll, and inventory systems • Build inventory accounting for high SKU velocity, trade-ins, consignment, and grading • Manage data conversion, parallel testing, cutover, and post-go-live stabilization • Own the monthly close and deliver it on a predictable calendar • Produce store-level P&Ls and channel-level reporting • Own inventory accounting and reconciliation across stores, warehouse, and e-commerce • Manage cash, AP, AR, banking relationships, and lender reporting • Build internal controls, documentation, and audit trails • Support diligence by preparing normalized financial statements and responding to investor and lender requests • Partner with the outside CPA on tax and compliance • Report to the COO/CFO and work directly with the CEO

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a Controller or Assistant Controller role • Deep, hands-on NetSuite experience, including implementing it or leading a migration to it • Multi-entity and multi-location accounting experience • Strong inventory accounting background in a retail, e-commerce or distribution environment • Demonstrated ability to own a monthly close independently and improve it • Comfortable working in a company where processes are still being built • CPA strongly preferred • Experience in specialty retail, e-commerce, or consumer products strongly preferred • Experience preparing a company for diligence, a financing, or a transaction strongly preferred • Familiarity with retail POS systems and Shopify strongly preferred • Knowledge of trading cards or collectibles is not required • Ability to work remotely within the United States • Occasional travel to the New Jersey headquarters for close cycles, planning and the NetSuite cutover
