• Audit and review operative cases and intraoperative documentation daily for complete and accurate charge capture • Validate procedures, supplies, implants, devices, and time-based services against preference cards, implant logs, anesthesia records, case times, and posted charges • Identify and resolve missing, duplicate, or incorrect charges with OR caregivers and ancillary departments • Ensure surgical cases are finalized and ready for billing in a timely manner • Perform charge integrity reviews before coding and claim submission • Monitor charge variances, revenue per case, recurring documentation gaps, supply usage, and revenue opportunities • Identify root causes of charge loss and support perioperative revenue integrity improvement plans • Serve as a resource for high-dollar and implant-intensive cases • Collaborate with Clinical Informatics and IT on Epic charge routing, OpTime workflows, interfaces, testing, validation, and troubleshooting • Educate OR caregivers on documentation affecting charge capture and reimbursement • Support standardization of preference cards, implant documentation, and supply usage workflows • Work with sales representatives and vendors to validate pricing, invoices, and charge master alignment • Obtain pricing for new or unique implants and reorder critical supplies and devices • Liaise with Perioperative Services, Revenue Cycle, Coding, Billing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Purchasing • Report trends to OR leadership and participate in audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance initiatives • Perform other duties assigned to support perioperative operations and financial performance
• High school diploma or GED required • 2 years of clinical experience in the intraoperative setting required • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required upon hire, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with state licensure required upon hire, or Registered Nurse (RN) with state or compact-state licensure required upon hire • Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed • Ability to understand medical terminology, surgical procedures, instrumentation, anatomy, physiology, and sequence of events • Ability to analyze and reconcile clinical documentation with billing and charge data • Knowledge of Epic OR/OpTime workflows and charge capture processes • Knowledge and experience with information systems and Internet usage • Experience with spreadsheet and word-processing software • Ability to work independently, multitask, manage multiple priorities, and problem-solve • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Ability to operate computers, telephones, fax machines, and copiers continuously or repetitively • Ability to sit, walk, and stand • Ability to see and hear and assess paper and electronic data • Standard precautions and minimal hazard exposure • Preferred: 5 years of clinical experience in the intraoperative setting • Preferred: 2 years of experience with OR billing, charge capture, auditing, and revenue integrity
