📋 Description

• Own end-to-end COGS and gross margin analysis for Motive’s hardware and software product lines, including vehicle gateways, dashcams, and software products • Model cost-saving opportunities and build scenario analyses • Deliver recommendations on profitability levers to the CPO, CTO, and finance leadership • Structure ambiguous, high-stakes business questions and develop clear, defensible analytical points of view • Present analytical findings in executive conversations • Partner with data engineering, finance, and product teams to understand cost drivers and influence roadmap and investment decisions • Establish ground truth in complex data environments • Build reliable datasets and durable analytical frameworks • Contribute documentation, version control practices, and analytical best practices to the Strategic Analytics team • Operate independently, manage priorities, and drive work forward with minimal supervision

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in analytics, strategic finance, or a closely related field • Demonstrated depth in financial and operational modeling • Expert-level SQL; ability to write complex queries independently and fluently • Deep understanding of unit economics, including gross margin, contribution margin, COGS structures, cost drivers, and scenario modeling • Ability to independently frame and decompose ambiguous business problems • Experience presenting analytical findings and a clear point of view directly to VP or C-suite stakeholders • High autonomy and self-sufficiency in fast-moving environments with incomplete context and shifting priorities • Experience working in messy data environments, establishing definitions, validating data quality, and building from the ground up • Experience with hardware and software combination products, IoT, fleet technology, consumer electronics, or similar is a nice-to-have • Python for analysis and automation is a nice-to-have • Hands-on experience with dbt, Airflow, or an equivalent modern analytics stack is a nice-to-have • Background in strategic finance, FP&A, or management consulting with a strong technical layer is a nice-to-have • Must be authorized to receive and access commodities and technologies controlled under U.S. Export Administration Regulations
