📋 Description

• Deliver leadership and direction to teams of Underwriters, Underwriting Team Leads, and Quality Control professionals • Develop, document, and improve underwriting guidelines in collaboration with Operations, Compliance, and Corporate Training • Ensure underwriting turn times and decisions are sound and comply with business practices and company policies • Lead the underwriting team in applying risk management principles, credit guidelines, and procedures • Identify audit findings and underwriting training opportunities • Evaluate funding and escalated requests by assessing risk and determining appropriate funding limits • Ensure regulatory, Fair Lending, credit policy, and underwriting procedure compliance • Oversee Credit, Quality Control, Appraisal Management, and Risk Analysis • Review compliance and quality outcomes and develop corrective action plans • Implement regulatory, Agency, Investor, and mortgage insurer guideline changes • Recommend credit enhancements to management • Manage credit risk in line with established loan quality targets • Provide leadership, guidance, and underwriting support • Perform other assigned duties and projects

🎯 Requirements

• Excellent project management and attention to detail • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines efficiently • Sound judgment and decision-making ability • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Professional manner and ability to maintain constructive working relationships • Ten years of in-depth knowledge and experience in conventional mortgage loan underwriting • Minimum of three years managing an underwriting team • Thorough knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA, and private investor underwriting guidelines and procedures • Knowledge of conventional and government automated and manual underwriting guidelines and standards • Experience using a mortgage-based system to assist in underwriting loans • Experience with Ellie Mae Encompass preferred • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel • Valid FHA DE/CHUMS ID, SAR, LAPP, and VA Automatic underwriting and appraisal authority preferred • Proficiency with DU, LP, Total Scorecard, and GUS preferred
