📋 Description

• Build partnerships and connections supporting conservation projects and programs across California National Forests, primarily the Southern Sierra National Forests • Provide project management, contract management, and program development support • Develop and implement conservation programs with the U.S. Forest Service, communities, conservation NGOs, and private-sector partners • Identify projects related to forest health, wildfire risk reduction, community resilience, watershed improvement, ecosystem restoration, and recreation enhancement • Lead advertising, negotiation, and awarding of contracts for fuel reduction, commercial thinning, habitat restoration, critical access improvement, and community resiliency projects • Coordinate on-the-ground implementation with contractors, consultants, nonprofits, partners, and the U.S. Forest Service • Help develop, modify, manage, and track Stewardship Agreements and Challenge Cost Share Agreements • Pursue funding opportunities, create development opportunities, and write grants • Build and maintain relationships among the U.S. Forest Service, California NGO partners, and NFF • Support restoration and recreation projects, existing collaborations, and new partnerships • Monitor conservation programming trends, emerging issues, policy interventions, and innovations • Serve as a point of contact for NFF conservation activities on the Southern Sierra National Forests • Assist with California program work, including management of diverse short-term projects

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or professional certification in conservation, forestry, planning, landscape design, recreation planning, environmental science, or related field • Minimum 3 years of work experience with conservation programs, project planning, and/or coordinating project implementation, preferably on federal lands • Authorized to work in the United States • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills • Strong and succinct persuasive writing skills • Excellent research and analytical skills with strong attention to detail • Creativity and initiative; ability to respond quickly to last-minute needs and changing priorities • Ability to work with people with differing and conflicting opinions while maintaining neutrality • Ability to understand and interpret conservation topics and project information • Ability to execute well-defined processes with minimal supervision • Strong time management and organization skills • Ability and willingness to travel frequently within the Southern Sierra National Forest and beyond • Valid U.S. driver's license and clean driving record • Reliable internet access
