📋 Description

• Coordinate the launch and implementation of projects and initiatives advancing the Planetary and Human Health Initiative strategy • Translate strategic priorities into actionable project plans • Coordinate cross-functional and cross-divisional teams and engage internal and external partners • Translate science concepts across disciplines and stakeholder groups • Build partnerships and champion the intersection of health, health equity, and conservation • Develop project goals, success factors, plans, budgets, metrics, and schedules • Assess project scope, objectives, risks, and dependencies • Define roles and responsibilities, recruit, and lead project teams • Obtain go/no-go decisions and approval for project deliverables • Monitor and measure project progress and conduct corrective action • Communicate project status to stakeholders • Perform risk management, issue resolution, and conflict management • Utilize project management and agile design methodologies and processes • Provide project management guidance, training, and expertise to other staff and project managers • Support development and implementation of the PHHI strategy and associated projects • Partner with the Planetary Health Scientist to drive progress on OCS KPIs using a Planetary Health/One Health lens • Facilitate development of a theory of change and/or strategic plan, success metrics, and a multi-year implementation roadmap • Build internal and external networks of collaborators and partners • Represent the Planetary Health Scientist in designated project-management and partner-coordination engagements • Bridge Global Science and TNC’s global conservation teams • Build feedback channels and track reach, usability, and value delivered to conservation teams • Advise and support conservation teams on projects aligned with PHHI and Human Dimensions Team objectives • Potentially contribute to research design, data collection, analysis, and deliverable development • Manage project budgets and activities in accordance with organizational policies, financial standards, contractual obligations, and legal requirements • Coordinate with Global Science staff to capture and report PHHI metrics and outcomes • Manage multiple complex projects, deadlines, accountability, negotiations, and project teams • Coordinate intake and mentorship of interns and/or volunteers

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience in conservation practice or applied social science or equivalent combination • 2 years of project management experience or 1 year acting as a project lead • Experience with environmental social science research, specifically planetary and human health, human well-being, and health equity • Completed coursework or other training on project management principles • Experience managing and tracking multiple projects • Experience managing project teams and working with cross-functional staff • Experience managing scheduling and financial aspects of small to large projects ranging from short to long term • Experience using project management techniques and tools such as Asana, Smartsheet, and Mural • Master’s degree in social sciences and 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination (desired) • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences (desired) • Experience with agile design, adaptive management, and development of theories of change (desired) • Familiarity with TNC’s work in human dimensions, forests and forest resilience, and Indigenous capacity building (desired) • Ability to manage and implement complex processes (desired) • Experience supervising staff, interns, and/or volunteers (desired) • Proficiency in interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data (desired) • Certification in project management (desired) • Strong communication and presentation skills • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to negotiate, influence, and persuade • Successful experience implementing strategic program goals • Occasional travel and ability to work long and flexible hours as needed • Successful applicant must meet The Nature Conservancy’s background screening requirements
