📋 Description

• Lead The Nature Conservancy's interests at the state level across Missouri • Lead conservation strategy, philanthropy, and external partnerships • Oversee a network of preserves and Centers for Conservation Innovation • Partner with state agencies, academic institutions, and local organizations to advance TNC’s mission • Supervise senior program and development staff • Manage and develop a large, complex Business Unit • Implement TNC’s conservation approach and produce measurable conservation results • Align activities and coordinate resources, capacity, and programs for organization-wide projects, threats, and strategies • Serve as primary local spokesperson to staff, volunteers, trustees, donors, government agencies, officials, community leaders, and partners • Cultivate audiences to support and promote TNC’s mission and vision • Oversee Business Unit fundraising, approve budgets, and set private and public fundraising priorities • Support staff in donor cultivation and direct solicitation • Lead direct fundraising for a significant portion of the Business Unit • Lead, manage, inspire, and motivate staff while maintaining culture and engagement • Oversee conservation, policy, fundraising, and operations plans in Missouri • Drive resources to high-impact work and produce measurable results • Create and cultivate an inclusive workplace culture with trust, fairness, and professional growth • Engage donors, corporations, and foundations in support of local, divisional, and global outcomes • Foster and empower a volunteer Board of Trustees in fundraising, networking, advocacy, and strategic leadership • Represent TNC with governmental leaders, agencies, partners, corporations, foundations, and academic institutions • Ensure organizational health and financial sustainability, including strategic planning, program commitments, multi-million-dollar budgets, financial standards, and legal requirements • Serve on the Great Plains Division Leadership Team and help shape strategy, identify priorities, and develop, fund, and deploy talent for cross-boundary initiatives • Travel routinely throughout the geography and globally, estimated 40%

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a leader in the conservation arena, non-profit sector, advocacy, or related for-profit area • Extensive and proven management experience leading, motivating, setting objectives, and managing performance of a large multi-disciplinary team • Written and verbal fluency in English • Fluency in the predominant language of the operating unit if other than English • Superb communication and presentation skills • Experience communicating with and presenting to diverse audiences including donors, board members, employees, and outside partners • Experience in fundraising and budget management • Experience gained both in and outside the U.S. preferred • Demonstrated commitment to developing and practicing global literacy • Proven managerial talent in budgeting, staffing, and performance management • Proven technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus • Demonstrated operational, implementation, and detail-oriented perspective • Valid driver's license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program • Completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, potentially including motor vehicle record review • Must be located within Missouri or able to relocate to Missouri • Ability and willingness to travel routinely throughout the geography and globally as required, estimated 40% • Ability to work flexibly, sometimes beyond the normal workday, including weekends, as necessary during deadline periods
