📋 Description

• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to outpatient visit types • Assign Evaluation and Management codes for physician encounters • Thoroughly review medical records and documentation to code diagnoses, procedures, and evaluation and management services • Collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers, and clinical areas on coding and reimbursement • Interpret health record documentation using clinical and medical terminology knowledge • Resolve NCCI, NCD/LCD, and other outpatient claim edit failures • Meet established coding productivity and quality standards for each outpatient encounter type • Perform other duties as assigned • Adhere to organizational policies, Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, and regulatory/accreditation standards

🎯 Requirements

• RHIT or RHIA or CCS or CCS-P or COC or CPC certification • AHIMA or AAPC membership • 3 years of experience in an acute healthcare setting • Preferred: RHIA/RHIT with CCS, CCS-P, COC, or CPC • Preferred: 4 years of experience in an acute healthcare setting • Preferred: 4 years of experience in a professional setting • Expertise in ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding • Expertise with HCPC Level I and II procedural codes • Knowledge of NCD/LCD and NCCI edits • Minimum 95% coding accuracy • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and medical terminology • Ability to follow ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic, Coding Clinic for HCPCs, CPT Assistant, coding conventions, and instructional notes
