• Build best-in-class, diverse teams through talent acquisition, development, and succession planning • Deliver regional sales targets while collaborating nationally to achieve organizational objectives • Establish team accountability, communicate and supervise KPIs, and address performance across the team • Foster a collective vision, set clear expectations, empower team members, and improve processes • Create, execute, and oversee a regional business plan focused on customer needs • Partner with Area Business Leaders and cross-functional teams to enhance customer experience and increase product demand among healthcare providers, key accounts, and Systems of Care • Act as part of the national leadership team to enhance regional capabilities, business performance, team growth, and organizational culture • Ensure team duties are carried out with honesty, professionalism, integrity, and compliance with Novartis policies and Code of Ethics • Promote regional budget allocation and optimize use of face-to-face and Omni Channel resources • Foster an environment encouraging ideas, challenge-solving, collaboration, experimentation, and learning from failures • Craft development plans, nurture team growth, and improve performance • Utilize analytics platforms to guide decisions and identify risks and opportunities
• Bachelor’s degree required from a 4-year college or university • 10+ years’ experience in commercial pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or similarly structured industries with large, geographically dispersed sales teams • 5+ years’ experience as a first-line sales manager • Strong critical thinking and enterprise attitude • Experience managing field organizations through change, innovation, or growth is highly valued • Demonstrated success driving sales performance, leading cross-functional teams, and executing strategy in matrixed, multi-regional environments • Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain diverse talent and build dedicated teams • Strong cross-functional leadership abilities • Experience building and completing business and incentive plans in sophisticated sales environments • Operational skills, financial and business acumen, strategic and analytical thinking, and budget-management experience • Must reside within the region or within reasonable commuting distance to and from a metropolitan airport • Ability to travel 60–80% over a broad geography • Ability to drive and/or fly within the territory • Must have a valid, fully valid, and unrestricted driver’s license • Desirable: proven leadership as a second-line sales manager • Desirable: cross-functional experience in market access, reimbursement, or account management • Desirable: understanding of payer landscapes, buy and bill, and specialty pharmacy • Must comply with customer credentialing guidelines for customer-facing work, which may require COVID-19 vaccination in some settings
