• Develop operational performance metrics with teams across NWF • Help teams visualize data to identify resource risks and opportunities • Analyze data and provide insights for strategic operational decisions • Report program operational health and performance to leadership • Collaborate with teams to map processes and identify pinch points • Identify process improvements and help program operations teams implement them • Train program operations leaders on new processes and systems • Develop resources to institutionalize best practices • Lead teams in solving complex and/or urgent operational issues • Provide surge support for budget and grant management • Write guidance documents, map processes, analyze data, and strategize to support leadership decisions • Lead cross-functional teams with minimal support and present recommendations to leadership • Collaborate with Finance, Philanthropy, Legal, Human Resources, Accounts Payable, and program leaders
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in a relevant field, such as business administration or finance • 7+ years of relevant experience in financial management, operations, or administration, preferably in a nonprofit setting • Federal grant management is a plus • 2+ years of experience managing others through direct or indirect authority • Adaptability to changing priorities and new processes and software programs • Strong project management skills while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams • Ability to analyze datasets, synthesize data, and present findings to leaders • Clear communication and ability to distill complex technical concepts into layperson language • Experience collecting and synthesizing information from teams while minimizing burden • Positive, solutions-oriented changemaker attitude • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Advanced ability to write formulas and manipulate data in Excel • Experience with Smartsheet, Airtable, or other project management tools is a plus • Commitment to NWF values, environmental justice, equity, responsibility, empathy, inclusivity, and mission focus • Passion for and commitment to NWF’s mission • U.S. citizenship or valid work authorization to work in the U.S. • Successful background check if selected • Approximately 2–3 trips per year, with 2–4 nights per trip
