• Conduct billing and coding compliance audits of inpatient and outpatient medical records • Review documentation, procedure and diagnosis coding, and evaluation and management coding • Apply state and federal healthcare regulations to compliance questions, projects, and inquiries • Provide coding education for OB hospitalists in collaboration with Commure and Revenue Cycle Management • Conduct compliance education sessions with practitioners and staff • Handle billing and coding compliance inquiries • Assist in developing and rolling out auditing, billing, and coding policies and procedures • Use standardized audit tools, including Healthicity • Plan and perform work according to Compliance Department standards • Create standardized audit finding reports and communicate audit results • Handle telephone calls and screen inquiries professionally • Maintain awareness of compliance projects • Assist Senior Compliance Medical Auditors and Educators with coding compliance audits • Perform Healthmap and EMR access-related duties supporting and backing up the HIM Specialist • Perform other related duties as assigned
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC or Bachelor’s degree • Working knowledge of Medicaid coding regulations is a plus • Awareness of and compliance with HIPAA and related healthcare privacy regulations • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Ability to compose letters, memos, and other correspondence • Effective interpersonal skills in interactions with OB Hospitalists and personnel • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Ability to work with highly confidential materials • High ethical standards • Experience educating physicians, hospitalists, providers, or staff on coding, charting, documentation, billing, and compliance processes • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, coding guidelines, evaluation and management coding, professional billing, and healthcare privacy requirements • Ability to conduct audits, analyze findings, prepare clear audit reports, and communicate recommendations professionally • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills
