• Conduct analyses and research to enable consultation under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act • Review action agency documents and provide technical assistance to Federal action agencies during ESA Section 7 consultations • Critically analyze scientific literature, agency documents, and other applicable information • Assess impacts of activities on protected species • Develop and evaluate mitigation and monitoring to support agency findings under the ESA • Perform record-keeping and documentation tasks to ensure compliance with the Endangered Species Act and other applicable statutes • Support the National Marine Fisheries Service Office of Protected Resources • Provide personnel support services and contribute to Ocean Associates’ research and policy-advice work for government and industry clients
• Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field and 3 years of relevant experience • Years of education beyond Bachelor’s Degree can be substituted for experience • Documented education and/or experience in environmental regulations and the Federal regulatory process; environmental sciences; biological sciences, including fisheries biology/ecology, marine mammal biology/ecology, sea turtle biology/ecology, and/or marine biology/ecology; ecological risk assessment or environmental impact analysis; or scientific project management • Preferred experience in Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic fisheries and ecosystems • Strong technical writing and communication skills • Ability to work effectively individually and collaboratively in a team/group setting • Ability to receive constructive feedback and implement appropriate action • Mandatory cover letter describing how skills, experience, and education meet the required qualifications • Resume must include work history for the past 10 years or since last full-time education, education, previous similar experience or training, and three professional references • Resume must be uploaded in readable, not scanned, PDF or Word format • Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States • Must complete the required employment eligibility verification document upon hire • Must successfully complete a federal government background check
