📋 Description

• Lead, manage, and participate in coding integrity projects, including specialty-specific coding education, audits, research, education, and financial analysis • Manage project aspects and educate executive leadership and physicians • Assess and implement project-related training and quality assurance requirements • Assist physicians, coders, and leadership with accurate code assignment • Develop oversight and ongoing coding compliance methods • Educate physicians on policy changes and coding/documentation opportunities • Educate billing staff across all regions on policy changes • Support the HIM/Coding Management team with coding compliance functions • Oversee coding consulting projects and provide timely, accurate recommendations • Supervise, coach, evaluate, and counsel employees to ensure competency and regulatory compliance • Audit and educate coders to ensure coding consistency across all regions • Interpret CMS/coding policies and educate physicians and coding and education staff • Train new hires and interns • Develop measures to track and monitor coding improvement initiatives • Consult for physicians • Adapt communication and service explanations to specific patient populations • Remain knowledgeable about applicable laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements • Perform other related duties as required

🎯 Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent • 5 years related clinical experience (nursing or allied health) OR coding experience with Medicare and Managed Care Reimbursement, Managed Care contractual arrangements and patient accounting/billing background OR 3 years with a Bachelor's degree • Required certification in Coding (CCS-P, CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder- Hospital (CPC-H), Certified Coding Specialist- Physician based (CCS-P), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and information retrieval • Familiarity with Cardiology, Cardiovascular and Nephrology Coding • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Proficiency with Windows-style applications, role-specific software packages, and keyboard • Ability to prepare and present findings and results to diverse audiences • Experience planning, coordinating, and reviewing projects involving complex business and technical matters • Analytical and operational problem-solving skills • Time management and ability to prioritize, organize, and coordinate multiple assignments under changing conditions • Ability to resolve issues at the lowest level and know when to escalate or change priorities • Competency applying accounting principles and/or federal and state regulations to daily decision-making • Ability to work 8–10 hour days, including possible evening, weekend, and holiday work during peak periods • Ability to travel long distance for continuing education and satellite site visits • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays • Ability to perform sedentary work and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 pounds • Must comply with applicable laws, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and the employer’s Compliance & Privacy Program
