📋 Description

• Advise banks, asset managers, funds, and insurers on regulatory, transactional, and structuring questions across US and cross-border mandates • Own matters end-to-end, including scoping, analysis, memos, documentation, negotiation, and regulator-facing work • Serve as trusted counterpart to general counsel, heads of compliance, and in-house teams • Turn each matter into a reusable AI-native service containing analysis, precedents, and decision logic • Work with engineers to build tooling that supports legal work • Set quality bars and review standards for defensible AI-produced legal work • Help establish the New York practice, including structure, intake, precedent library, and engagement terms • Develop the client base with the founders from initial conversation through signed mandate • Bring in and mentor subsequent lawyers • Work directly with the managing partner, founders, and engineers to shape the firm, client base, and operating model

🎯 Requirements

• Admitted to the New York bar, with a clean disciplinary record • Several years at a leading US firm or in-house at a bank, fund, or insurer, with real ownership of financial-sector matters • Deep expertise in at least one of: banking and financial regulation, funds and asset management, insurance regulatory, structured products, or financial transactions • Advisory and transactional orientation • Commercially sharp, with the ability to understand client needs and price and scope work accordingly • Entrepreneurial interest in building a firm from the first mandate • Native/fluent English • Based in or willing to move to New York • Existing relationships with GCs or compliance leadership at banks, funds, or insurers (bonus) • Cross-border experience with European financial institutions (bonus) • Experience building something with AI, such as an automation, agent, or workflow (bonus) • Authorized to work in the US • Must be admitted to the New York bar
