📋 Description

• Drive the technical transition from legacy systems to modern enterprise Linux environments, including RHEL7 → EL8/EL9 upgrade paths • Build and maintain RPM packages to replace legacy configuration • Carry the packaging migration from Chef to CINC • Develop and execute automated runbooks for repeatable migrations • Triage, own, and resolve migration bugs from first report through verified fix • Transition monitoring infrastructure to Chronosphere, Prometheus, and Grafana • Manage Splunk integrations • Onboard services to monitoring and logging stacks, including metrics, dashboards, and alert rules • Harden observability frameworks and CI/CD pipelines • Design and maintain reversible rollout and rollback mechanisms for large-fleet changes • Automate repetitive operational work and replace manual runbook steps with tested, reviewed code • Provide Tier-2 operational support and incident response under a follow-the-sun model • Perform hands-on break/fix operations on existing platforms • Assist application developers with architectural support and troubleshooting during cloud migration phases • Author and maintain runbooks, migration procedures, and package and pipeline ownership documentation • Work with the client's SRE organization, internal engineering teams, and customer stakeholders from initial definition through final delivery

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong hands-on Python • Experience writing and maintaining software relied on by other engineers, including modules, packaging, tests, code review, and version control • Hands-on enterprise Linux experience at fleet scale • Experience executing large-scale OS upgrades, such as RHEL7 → EL8/EL9 or equivalent major-version migrations • Experience building RPM packages to replace legacy configuration • Experience with large-scale packaging or configuration-management migrations such as Chef → CINC • Ability to triage, own, and resolve bugs end to end: reproduce, isolate, fix, test, and ship • Ability to harden CI/CD pipelines, observability frameworks, and rollout/rollback mechanisms for legacy-to-modern infrastructure transitions • Tier-2 operational support and incident-response experience, including follow-the-sun support and hands-on break/fix operations • Experience onboarding services to newly established monitoring and logging stacks • Demonstrated automation of repetitive operations and documentation of technical procedures • Must be located in the United States • Must be authorized to work in the United States • Preferred: experience planning and executing logging and monitoring tool rollouts end to end • Preferred: experience supporting cloud cutovers and component migrations to cloud environments • Preferred: Perl scripting experience • Preferred: exposure to Chronosphere, Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk integrations • Preferred: Kickstart/PXE, golden images, or repository and mirror management experience • Certifications should be named with dates and credential IDs or verification links
