📋 Description

• Own onX’s iOS identity, subscription, and feature-access libraries used by every onX iOS app • Set technical direction, evaluate patterns, and deliver library changes to production • Co-own API contracts with backend teams and advocate for necessary changes • Improve token refresh and session lifecycle reliability • Lead adoption of Swift strict concurrency and handle network loss gracefully • Build client-side observability for identity flows by device, OS version, and app • Represent iOS in IAM design work covering account management, sessions, passkeys, one-time passwords, entitlements, and bundling • Partner with backend engineers, iOS platform leads, product teams, and an Android counterpart • Maintain consistent identity and entitlement behavior through shared specifications, tests, and design documents • Raise client expertise through code review, documentation, and mentoring • Identify problems, write design documents, align stakeholders, and drive rollouts across apps • Explore responsible AI integration into daily workflows • Participate in the Identity team on-call rotation, following runbooks or escalating as needed • Report to a Software Engineering Manager III

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience • Six or more years of professional software development experience • At least three years building and shipping production iOS apps in Swift as a primary focus • Deep knowledge of Swift and Swift Concurrency, including async/await, actors, and Sendable • Experience diagnosing race conditions and threading issues in production apps • Experience building and maintaining shared libraries or SDKs used by multiple apps or teams • Experience with Swift Package Manager, versioning, and API design for other engineers • Working knowledge of OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect • Knowledge of token storage in the Keychain • Knowledge of ASWebAuthenticationSession and session handling across app launches and backgrounding • Security-first approach to secure defaults, token handling, and failure modes • Experience driving cross-team technical initiatives from design document to rollout • Curiosity for exploring new technologies, including AI • Ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment • Ability to travel bi-annually for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location • Preferred: Experience with Ory, Auth0, Okta, passkeys/WebAuthn, Sentry or similar tools, StoreKit, in-app subscriptions, entitlement checks, offline-first apps, distributed teams, or outdoor applications
