📋 Description

• Provide technical support and direction for the Substation Design Team • Provide leadership and oversight of substation engineering and consulting services for clients across the US • Create structural design deliverables and review calculation packages • Establish department engineering standards and accelerate engineering delivery through automation • Support project bidding estimates, proposals, and scope development • Prepare, guide, or assist with engineering deliverables for electric substation projects • Provide leadership and mentorship to engineers, designers, and other team members • Serve as project lead or independent reviewer for assigned projects • Complete substation structural designs including foundations, structural steel, equipment layouts, plans, sections, details, and bills of material • Provide technical client support and support regional business development initiatives • Lead and mentor engineering and design teams • Work with engineers, designers, and project managers on utility substation projects • Participate in project conceptualization, work planning, and execution • Establish, maintain, and improve structural engineering standards, calculation templates, design criteria, review procedures, and quality expectations • Prepare calculations for studies and reports and equipment and installation specifications • Coordinate design activities with other disciplines and groups • Develop and champion engineering processes, tools, and technology that improve quality, consistency, efficiency, and scalability • Introduce design automation workflows integrating calculations, modeling, deliverables, quality checks, and production tools • Provide leadership, training, and mentoring • Meet and correspond with clients or external partners • Perform quality reviews for engineers and designers • Conduct field visits for site walkdowns, constructability reviews, construction support, and site meetings as needed • Support business development and marketing initiatives • Develop 3D models, reusable tools, templates, and engineering automation initiatives as needed • Work with Project Management to develop project plans and provide project updates

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university, or a related field with equivalent experience • Engineer IV: 5+ years related experience • Senior Engineer I: 7+ years related experience and PE required • Senior Engineer II: 10+ years related experience and PE required • Senior Engineer III: 15+ years related experience and PE required • Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer licensure strongly preferred • Proficiency with relevant codes and standards • Experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and/or foundation design • Working knowledge of FEA/FEM analytical software, Hilti PROFIS, Mathcad, structural analysis tools, 3D modeling platforms, and engineering automation or scripting workflows • Demonstrated interest in design automation, parametric modeling, scripting, data-driven quality checks, or workflow optimization • Ability to organize multiple complex assignments and competing priorities • Ability to collaborate in cross-functional work teams • Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills • Successful record of positive interactions with clients • Ability to lead staff, delegate assignments and drive positive results • Experience creating and reviewing structural design drawings • Ability to work successfully with remotely located team members • Ability to pass a post-offer drug and alcohol test, including marijuana, and submit to random testing as a condition of continued employment
