📋 Description

• Use integrated health information systems and telephone technology to facilitate customer interactions • Accurately search for patients in the EPIC database to reduce duplicate patient records • Assess patients’ financial ability to pay and refer them to financial counseling when appropriate • Send eligibility requests to payors to verify current coverage • Provide clinical, insurance, and demographic information to payors for precertification • Verify insurance eligibility using various tools • Request and create referrals for specified populations • Pre-certify services, obtain authorization numbers, and enter information into patient accounts using medical, ICD, and CPT codes • Contact external companies to verify employment and insurance information for Workers’ Compensation cases • Work with the Veterans’ Administration to ensure services are covered and authorized • Provide accurate information to billing and case management to support claim payment • Maintain working relationships with medical staff, referring physicians, and designees to obtain complete, accurate, timely clinical and financial information • Provide high-level customer service while complying with Office of Compliance and HIPAA confidentiality standards • Alert management to system and workflow problems • Perform FCR Pre-Reg duties and other assigned duties

🎯 Requirements

• Associates degree or higher, or high school diploma/GED with 2+ years of experience in insurance, healthcare, or related field • Excellent customer service skills with enthusiasm and compassion • Ability to work in a fast paced environment • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive, confidential situations and establish effective working relationships • Attendance, promptness, professionalism, attention to detail, cooperativeness, and politeness • Ability to escalate issues if necessary • Knowledge and understanding of coding, insurance, and Federal, State, and 3rd party billing/reimbursement requirements • Experience with PC applications including MS Office and Internet • Ability to maintain employer training requirements • Ability to perform FCR Pre-Reg duties and assist that area as assigned
