📋 Description

• Define and drive the strategic vision and roadmap for AI, Generative AI, data science capabilities, solutions, use cases, and connected AI programs across R&D • Advise senior R&D leadership on opportunities and risks related to AI, data technologies, and Generative AI • Lead the design, development, and pre-deployment of extensible and scalable AI solutions for complex R&D data and applications • Oversee AI and Generative AI use cases from ideation through production deployment and application lifecycle management • Lead data processing, representations, and AI solutions for clinical trials, patient recruitment, content authoring, asset management, pharmacovigilance, quality, regulatory, real-world data, sensor and medical device data, and omics data • Champion AI solution best practices, review solution architectures, and oversee data and AI observability, governance, monitoring, and lifecycle practices • Architect and scale AI/ML practices from experimentation and deployment through monitoring and retraining • Provide technical and engineering support for data and information governance, quality, and FAIR data • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of data scientists, AI/ML scientists, and lifecycle support staff • Manage team budget, resource allocation, project timelines, vendors, and the data and AI Solutions portfolio • Ensure initiatives comply with governance standards, data privacy regulations, GxP, HIPAA, and responsible AI principles • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, IT, Data and AI Platform, Data Engineering, R&D, scientific, operations, and external partners • Translate scientific challenges into executable data and AI projects and communicate strategy, progress, and outcomes to technical and executive stakeholders

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in data science, AI/ML, and Generative AI • At least 5 years in senior technical leadership or management roles • Strong team management and development experience • Experience architecting, building, and maintaining large-scale data and AI solutions in scientific, regulated, or research-heavy environments • Strong pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry experience, particularly in R&D, highly desirable • Deep understanding of AI and machine learning applications in pharmaceutical settings • Proven experience implementing and deploying Generative AI and LLM applications in production • Expertise in real-world data assets and using them to generate scientific evidence and guide operational effectiveness • Deep expertise in data science, data representation, Generative AI, AI, and machine learning techniques • Experience architecting and delivering AI/ML use cases • Strong team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and project management skills • Master’s degree in a mathematical, engineering, or scientific discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, or a related field, focused on advanced and modern data science including AI and machine learning • PhD strongly preferred
