• Float and support the Patient Access team in the call center and new patient referrals • Provide flexible daily coverage across key access functions • Schedule patient appointments by telephone or in person • Provide information about clinic operations • Obtain and update patient demographics • Answer telephone calls and distribute them appropriately • Coordinate schedules for patients requiring multiple services • Verify insurance eligibility and secure and follow up on referrals • Complete insurance denials and work with providers to file appeals • Report abandoned call rate in Tiered Huddles • Greet patients in the clinic • Accept payments and write receipts • Distribute and inspect encounter forms • Copy and upload insurance cards into the EMR • Balance and close personal cash drawer reconciliation daily • Prepare ancillary forms for other services • Promote the Patient Portal • Pull, copy, create, and request patient medical records and charts • Validate handouts for compliance dates • Discuss financial accounts with patients • Obtain insurance prior authorization • Secure referrals for HMO patients • Collect and verify proof of income for sliding-scale discounts • Monitor and act on referral work queues in the EMR • Transcribe outside referrals into the EMR • Coordinate referrals for patient access to clinical care • Dispense and reorder supplies • Participate in Quality Improvement activities • Type notes and letters for physicians • Make immunization cards • Sort and distribute mail • Communicate professionally with patients, co-workers, employees, and external parties • Maintain patient confidentiality • Perform other duties as assigned
• Must reside and work full-time in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Texas before the first day of employment • High School Diploma or GED required • 3 or more years of experience in customer service required • At least 6 months of experience in a clinical environment required • No license, certification, or registration required • Advanced verbal and written communication skills • Advanced customer service skills • Advanced ability to work effectively with employees, patients, and external parties • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures • Keyboarding skills sufficient to meet position requirements • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
