• Manage a high volume of outbound and incoming member calls regarding delinquent and overdrawn accounts • Make payment arrangements within policy and procedure guidelines • Contact members with past-due accounts, loans, and Visas by phone, email, and mail • Discuss outstanding balances and payments, establish repayment schedules, and obtain payments • Apply knowledge of bankruptcy, collateral protection insurance, credit reporting, GAP, mechanical breakdown insurance, debt protection, repossessions, account and loan maintenance, deceased member accounts, straw loans, and ACH setup • Complete complex tasks related to collection and closure of delinquent accounts • Review and prepare negative shares reports for charge-off • Follow up on recovery and continued collection efforts for charged-off accounts • Review and unlock dormant accounts as needed • Manage a queue of delinquent accounts and recommend accounts for repossession or charge-off • Prepare collateral recovery files and submit them for voluntary or involuntary repossession approval • Provide guidance to teammates and branch staff • Assist with training new department staff • Waive fees within authorization level • Review internal processes and recommend efficiency improvements • Perform other duties as assigned
• Minimum one (1) year experience in customer service or collection experience required • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility • Knowledge of the functional relationship between branches and the loan department • Knowledge of legal proceedings applicable to collection, repossession, foreclosure, liens, and bankruptcy • Knowledge of the Symitar and Temenos systems preferred • Ability to work with a computer-based collection-tracking system • Ability to analyze and evaluate situations affecting the credit union’s loan assets • Ability to work extended hours as required or requested by management • Must reside in Washington or Oregon
