📋 Description

• Partner with PSEF’s Ad Hoc Executive Director Search Committee to design and manage a national search for the next Executive Director • Refine the search strategy, candidate profile, and market positioning • Recruit and assess candidates through active outreach, network-based sourcing, and national recruitment • Support candidate evaluation, screening, semifinalist assessment, references, and work-sample recommendations • Assess candidates’ fund, lending, capital deployment, strategic implementation, executive leadership, and mission alignment competencies • Design and conduct an equitable, bias-mitigating search process • Facilitate search committee and Board meetings, interviews, decision support, finalist coordination, and offer and acceptance processes • Advise on transition and onboarding planning • Provide communications guidance, candidate-facing materials, confidentiality practices, reporting, and regular updates • Coordinate with PSEF staff for organizational context, culture, role clarity, and strategic implementation insight • Support Board approval of the candidate profile, finalist interviews, and final hiring decision

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience conducting Executive Director, CEO, or comparable senior leadership searches for mission-driven organizations • Experience placing leaders who manage funds, loan pools, community investment strategies, or mission-driven financing structures • Experience recruiting leaders implementing multi-year strategic plans involving governance, movement relationships, fundraising, and capital deployment • Strong track record recruiting diverse candidate pools and supporting equitable, inclusive search processes • Experience working with committee-led and Board-approved processes • Strong project management, communication, and candidate stewardship practices • Right-sized approach appropriate for PSEF’s scale, values, leadership context, and budget sensitivity • Familiarity with social justice, climate, environmental sustainability, clean energy, philanthropy, community development, community finance, lending, loan funds, enterprise strategy, financial institutions, or movement ecosystems • Transparent pricing or rate information • Ability to conduct original candidate research and direct outreach beyond existing databases and established contacts • At least three client references for comparable executive searches • Proposal must include firm overview, relevant experience, methodology, engagement plan, timeline, team, DEI and bias-mitigation approach, fee structure, deliverables, communications practices, and references • Submission through PSEF’s application portal by Wednesday, August 26, 2026 • Complete all required application-portal questions and upload one PDF proposal • Email submissions are not accepted unless approved as an accessibility accommodation
