📋 Description

• Manage one to several teams within Boarding & Maintenance • Own team delivery, people, standards, and operational health • Lead hiring, feedback, and performance management • Hold the technical bar in design reviews, incidents, and roadmap debates • Establish AI-native engineering practice standards • Ensure predictable and sustainable delivery with Product and Design partners • Instrument and improve team outcomes, delivery signals, quality signals, and activity metrics • Maintain SLO coverage, improve deployment frequency and lead time, and keep on-call humane • Orchestrate high-pressure incident responses, including communication and decision-making • Identify and eliminate single points of failure through shadowing, rotation, and documented knowledge • Develop engineers into higher-level roles • Make explicit tradeoffs for debt and platform work • Build self-curing boarding, automated portfolio movement, bank-account-change automation, processor file builds, case workflows, unified progressive boarding, and legacy-system migrations

🎯 Requirements

• Experience managing engineers full time, including hiring, performance, and delivery accountability • Sufficient technical depth to hold the bar in design reviews, incidents, and roadmap debates • Typically ~7+ years of experience including people leadership • Strong technical background in Node.js/TypeScript systems, including messaging, latency, and reliability • Comfort with observability tooling such as Datadog • Experience running hiring processes for backend engineers and maintaining a high technical bar • Experience partnering effectively with senior technical leaders (Staff+ engineers) • Experience in FinTech, payments, banking, or other transaction-heavy systems preferred • Familiarity with PCI DSS or other regulated, sensitive financial data preferred • Prior individual-contributor experience as a Senior or Staff Node.js engineer nice to have
