📋 Description

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain marine diesel propulsion and auxiliary engines • Perform inspections, overhauls, testing, commissioning, and field service • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic engine-system issues • Perform MTU dyno acceptance testing and adjust engines to factory specifications • Use OEM diagnostic software to verify and adjust system performance • Conduct service work on vessels, shipyards, and customer facilities • Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation • Support sea trials and commissioning activities • Represent the company professionally at customer sites • Maintain company vehicle and personal tools • Mentor apprentices and uphold safety and quality standards • Complete required manufacturer training and certifications

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED; technical training or diesel certification preferred • 3–5+ years of hands-on marine diesel experience • Strong experience with marine propulsion and auxiliary engines • Proven mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic ability • Strong electrical and electronic diagnostic fundamentals • Experience with CAT, Cummins, Volvo Penta, MAN, Detroit, Yanmar, John Deere, or FPT • Proficiency with diagnostic software and electrical test equipment • Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record • TWIC card or ability to obtain one • Heavy-duty diesel and/or marine propulsion experience required; automotive/light-duty diesel experience alone will not be considered • MTU 2000 and/or MTU 4000 experience preferred • MTU Service Professional or OEM training preferred • MTU electronic diagnostic experience, including ECU, MDEC, and/or DDEC systems preferred • Experience with MTU DiaSys preferred • Marine field service or shipyard experience preferred • Familiarity with EPA Tier regulations and OEM standards preferred • Experience with dyno testing, commissioning, or sea trials preferred • Comfortable working independently in variable environments, including confined spaces
