📋 Description

• Report to the Senior Director, Policy • Drive policy and advocacy activities to expand access to federal charter school funding and increase federal support for charter schools • Serve as a central organizational voice on federal policy priorities • Manage regulatory engagement, including tracking and analyzing regulatory proposals affecting charter schools • Develop stakeholder-informed comments on behalf of the charter school community • Develop, manage, and present content related to the legislative and regulatory agenda • Develop high-quality programming for the National Charter Schools Conference and other stakeholder meetings • Develop and advance a federal regulatory agenda across agencies including the U.S. Departments of Education, Labor, Agriculture, and Treasury • Conduct creative, thorough, and thoughtful policy analysis and development • Support relationship development and management with key policy partners and Administration officials • Collect input and promote alignment on policy priorities across the charter school community • Develop and maintain policy collateral and talking points • Equip the Government Relations team to advance organizational priorities • Build and steward relationships with federal charter school policy stakeholders • Attend and report on seminars and briefings concerning charter schools, school choice, and education reform • Support partnership development and growth

🎯 Requirements

• Commitment to education reform, the charter school movement, and the National Alliance’s mission • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree suits candidates best • At least six (6) years of relevant work experience • Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills • Detail-oriented and takes pride in work quality • Ability to set priorities, develop work schedules, monitor progress toward goals, and track team and project details and data • Team player with an entrepreneurial spirit • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others, set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness • Experience building partnerships with local leaders and organizations whose missions align with the organization • Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft Office • Experience using Excel and managing a database system • Ideally located in the Washington, D.C. area
