📋 Description

• Apply electrical theory and critical thinking to troubleshoot and execute testing plans for protection and control systems and schemes • Support the assigned team in executing work plans safely and efficiently with a quality-assurance mindset • Support acceptance testing and routine maintenance of transmission and distribution substation power equipment • Test relaying, pilot channel equipment, controls and communications equipment • Verify local and SCADA metering • Calibrate relays • Perform local and SCADA trip testing • Test digital fault recorders (DFRs), sequence of event recorders (SERs), and end-to-end line relay systems • Apply test procedures for various types of relay test equipment • Maintain substation awareness and safety consciousness • Support testing activities as required by the project lead

🎯 Requirements

• Knowledge of 3 phase power systems • Knowledge of power system protection and control schemes • Knowledge of test equipment and test equipment software • Field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes preferred • Knowledge of test equipment and tool/wiring usage • Ability to interpret wiring and elementary diagrams • Basic test skills • Basic PC skills • Ability to learn and apply client’s switching procedures and safety measures under direct supervision • Ability to reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications • Ability to perform regular field work indoors and outdoors • Ability to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment • Ability to perform physical activity including pushing, pulling, lifting and bending in all types of weather extremes • Ability to lift at least 30 lbs. without assistance • Associate of Science in Electrical Technology (AET) or equivalent specialized training in system protection • Valid driver’s license and good driving record • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
