📋 Description

• Work closely with customer stakeholders, scientists, and IT professionals to deliver Compute at Scale and support scientific initiatives • Develop, evolve, and administer HPC platforms and support scientific applications, workflows, and related infrastructure on-premises and in the cloud • Drive architecture, roadmaps, and execution of infrastructure projects and best practices • Provide full-stack support, including platform design and evolution, application administration, workflow support, profiling, performance tuning, monitoring, maintenance, and systems administration • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues • Architect and engineer on-premises and cloud solutions • Provide consulting, advisory, and customer support services and recommendations • Collaborate with cross-discipline team members and customers • Support internal and customer architecture and design efforts • Advise on and implement customer workflow pipelines • Document new and existing computational assets • Support AWS and GCP applications, migrations, and modernization • Perform CloudOps and infrastructure-as-code for ongoing platform management • Set up and configure AWS and GCP infrastructure for new platform builds • Ensure system compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements • Provide transition support for modernized services to operational teams • Provide engineering-level troubleshooting and service restoration • Train and mentor junior team members • Serve as an escalation point across multiple engagements • Work on customer Research or Analytics initiatives

🎯 Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Computer Science or related field • 5+ years of experience administering HPC clusters and systems • 5+ years of professional experience in Solution Architecture or Cloud Infrastructure Deployment and support • 5+ years of professional experience developing or administering compute solutions for Scientific / Research IT domains; Life Sciences preferred • Experience with SLURM and Grid Engine scheduling software preferred • Experience with POSIT products (Package Manager, Connect, Workbench), as an end-user or administrator • Experience developing scientific workflows on HPC systems using Nextflow • Extensive command-line system administration experience • User and group management • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NFS, and SMB • Experience building applications from source code and installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux and scientific software • Experience installing and fine-tuning Linux operating systems • Familiarity with Linux package management systems • Intermediate OS-level networking knowledge • Experience with scripting, automation, and configuration management tools • Ansible, Terraform, and CloudFormation experience preferred • Experience administering and integrating Scientific / Research applications • Strong time-management and project-prioritization skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proactive problem-solving ability • Extreme attention to detail • Ability to understand and analyze complex technical problems • Ability to work independently or with a team • Ability to take a project from start to finish with minimal supervision • Role is only open to applicants not needing sponsorship now or in the future • No third parties
