📋 Description

• Triage incoming patient calls using all phases of the Nursing Process • Provide calm, effective telephone advice and identify life-threatening emergencies • Recommend interventions, including facilitating ambulance transportation • Conduct initial assessments and triage patients using knowledge of disease processes and pathophysiology • Enter data during calls and record significant caller health history • Prioritize, delegate, and manage incoming call acuity and assigned staff duties • Refer cases requiring physician intervention to the on-call or primary care physician • Direct callers to appropriate care, including emergency rooms, office visits, or self-care • Schedule patient appointments according to approved guidelines • Use medical resources to formulate patient care plans • Counsel and educate patients and callers • Document calls and maintain requested statistical data • Work effectively with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality • Attend department meetings, mandatory in-services, and educational programs • Comply with incident reporting, OSHA, and Springfield Clinic policies and training • Provide excellent customer service consistent with the SC Way philosophy • Report to the TeleNurse Supervisor/Manager

🎯 Requirements

• RN, graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Illinois RN licensure • Minimum of three years of clinical experience in acute ambulatory or acute care setting • Experience in ER or Home Health preferred • Current RN license • Required to give one (1) month resignation notice • Required to work every other weekend and 4-5 out of 9 Springfield Clinic recognized holidays per year • Required to reside within a 100 mile radius of Springfield, IL • Basic typing skills at 40 wpm or greater • Intermediate computer skills and comfort with Windows operating systems • Pleasant, clear telephone voice • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills • Practices independent nursing consistent with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act
