• Develop, design, negotiate, and produce highly complex reinsurance treaties incorporating advanced reinsurance concepts • Provide treaty language, drafting expertise, and advice on negotiation tactics • Research, design, and create complex client-prepared or RGA-drafted treaties • Capture all details of reinsurance transactions in treaty documents • Ensure treaties comply with state and federal insurance regulations and corporate contract standards • Identify regulatory or contractual differences and escalate them to Legal counsel • Lead and coordinate departmental peer reviews • Ensure adherence to RGA business guidelines and legal protocols • Assist with department planning, goal setting, and objective achievement • Coordinate with subject matter experts to prepare and review monthly reports for executive review • Recommend and participate in process improvements beyond the area of oversight, with Operations Leadership approval • Coach, train, and mentor team members and new staff • Lead internal meetings and coordinate client calls • Occasionally meet visiting clients in person • Communicate with clients by phone and email to establish rapport, resolve issues, and develop relationships • Establish regular client touch-point meetings and calls • Act as treaty interpretation subject matter expert and department lead • Perform cross-training, general staff support, special projects, and investigative research with internal business units
• Paralegal degree required or Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent related experience required • 8+ years of legal, commercial contract, or document drafting experience required • 5+ years of reinsurance industry experience required • Advanced ability to comprehend, interpret, and compose highly complex treaty language • Ability to apply complex treaty language appropriately • Superior written and verbal communication skills • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills • Ability to convey legal and business terminology and concepts clearly • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable and acceptable solutions • High organizational skills and ability to multitask and manage multiple projects • Ability to meet tight deadlines • Independent work ethic • Ability to coordinate projects as a team leader and foster teamwork in a customer-focused environment • Progress toward FLMI, ARA, or other relevant professional accreditation preferred • 1+ year of experience as a senior technical lead or team leader preferred
