📋 Description

• Own a defined portion of the monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, recurring entries, and balance sheet reconciliations • Research, age, clear, and escalate reconciling items • Build and maintain reconciliation templates and close schedules • Self-review work and meet assigned close deadlines • Own technical accounting documentation supporting revenue recognition, including ASC 606 assessments, five-step analyses, and position memos • Review contracts, change orders, and modifications for revenue recognition implications • Review monthly WIP schedules and investigate revenue variances • Maintain contract files and revenue recognition policy documentation • Serve as primary contact for external auditors on assigned revenue recognition documentation and testing • Provide backup for WIP schedule preparation and revenue recognition entries • Document accounting processes, reconciliation procedures, and close steps • Identify process gaps and propose improvements supporting controls and scalability • Help implement and maintain accounting systems and processes • Assist with AP, AR, and payroll functions • Cross-train across accounting functions and provide backup coverage • Maintain desk procedures for owned functions • Communicate with departments, customers, vendors, and outside resources to resolve accounting questions • Support billing and collections activity as needed • Follow RSI security policies, protect sensitive data, report incidents, and complete annual security training

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting • CPA or active CPA candidate preferred • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience • 2+ years of audit experience with a Big 4, national, or large regional public accounting firm strongly preferred • Demonstrated command of strong close and reconciliation processes • Experience owning balance sheet reconciliations end to end, including researching and clearing aged items • Working knowledge of ASC 606 and ability to document revenue conclusions in defensible memos • Percentage-of-completion, WIP, or project/contract accounting experience preferred • Strong documentation skills for workpapers, process narratives, and technical memos • Understanding of accrual accounting and relationships among financial statements • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and large data sets • Comfort learning new accounting systems • Willingness to work flexibly across accounting functions and cover teammates • Ability to explain technical accounting matters clearly to non-accounting personnel • Ability to work independently and determine what to resolve or escalate • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing close deadlines • Experience in a private equity-backed or project-based environment a plus • Ability to follow security policies and protect FTI, PII, and client data • Ability to complete required annual security awareness training
