• Perform civil safety assessments in accordance with ARP4761, including Functional Hazard Assessments, Preliminary System Safety Assessments, System Safety Assessments, Fault Tree Analyses, and Common Mode Analyses • Support systems, hardware, and software engineering teams in defining system safety requirements during development • Review design and development documentation for safety-critical equipment • Review analyses by peer safety engineers • Mentor and train less experienced safety engineers • Be accountable to team members and organizational leadership for committed work and responsibilities • Develop and maintain expertise in assigned programs, functions, processes, or technologies • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and organizational leaders to develop plans • Serve as a recognized technical expert in avionics safety • Contribute to safety and reliability strategies for advanced avionics technologies across regional jets, business aircraft, and commercial transports
• University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience • Experience in aircraft systems, hardware, or software engineering • U.S. citizenship required • Experience with CAFTA or similar Fault Tree analysis tools preferred • Working knowledge of ARP4761 preferred • Basic knowledge of ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178B/C, and DO-297 preferred • Experience preparing and presenting technical information to peers, internal management, and external customers preferred • Verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and presenting preferred • Experience coordinating projects and complex engineering activities preferred • Basic knowledge or experience in reliability engineering theory preferred
