📋 Description

• Recommend and implement investment policy, asset allocation, manager selection and monitoring within delegated authority • Assess direct investment opportunities or ensure appropriate expertise is available • Plan liquidity for distributions, fund commitments, taxes and family-business operating needs • Provide independent analysis and candid challenge to principals or delegated decision-makers • Balance shared research and implementation with individual client mandates in multi-family offices • Monitor portfolios, managers, risks and exceptions • Produce clear reporting to principals, committees or clients • Coordinate tax, legal and other specialist advisers • Lead an in-house investment team or oversee outsourced managers • Escalate issues in a timely manner within the authority and information provided • Register interest for future permanent family-office investment leadership opportunities through the Rutherford Talent Guild™

🎯 Requirements

• Established chief investment officers, investment directors and heads of investment in single-family and multi-family offices are welcomed • Investment leaders from private markets, endowments, foundations, pensions or wealth management preparing for family-office CIO responsibility are welcomed • Demonstrated capability, or assessed potential, to lead investment judgement for a family or several families • Experience with investment policy, asset allocation and rebalancing within agreed limits • Experience with liquidity planning across distributions, commitments, taxes and operating needs • Experience selecting and monitoring investment managers • Experience assessing direct and co-investments where relevant • Ability to communicate risk and uncertainty to principals, committees or clients • Current résumé required for registration • Essential details, function, sector and three short written answers about investment decisions required • No fixed minimum experience, minimum asset level or particular personality type applies • Professional designations are considered alongside demonstrated capability • Must avoid including confidential or identifying family information in registration responses
