📋 Description

• Investigate and evaluate the root cause and extent of failures and damage to HVAC and MEP systems • Investigate building management systems (BMS) and building automation systems (BAS) • Investigate fire protection and fire alarm systems • Assess other types of mechanical failures • Work remotely from a home office • Perform fieldwork in confined spaces and at heights • Travel locally, regionally, and nationally as needed • Prepare effective, technically sound reports • Provide expert witness services • Collaborate independently and with cross-functional teams of experts • Deliver clear, defensible forensic engineering conclusions for clients

🎯 Requirements

• Licensed P.E. in your state of residence or eligible by reciprocity • 5–10 years of on-the-job experience designing / working with mechanical equipment and systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings • Experience with HVAC and MEP systems • At least 5 years of forensic engineering experience strongly preferred • Ability to work independently and with a cross-functional team • Strong technical writing skills and ability to write effective reports • Strong verbal communication skills • Ability to provide excellent customer service • Technical proficiency with computers, phones, cameras, and industry-related software applications • Expert witness experience • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions • CFI (IAAI) and/or CFEI (NAFI) certifications strongly preferred • Ability to perform fieldwork, including confined spaces and working at heights • Ability to carry ladders and operate required equipment • Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally by vehicle or plane • Willingness to undertake overnight travel • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university required • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering highly desirable
