📋 Description

• Design, build, and operate production AI systems, including agent orchestration, tool and API integrations, retrieval pipelines, and evaluation harnesses • Architect and maintain marketing databases, datasets, pipelines, and Samsara's Customer Data Platform • Partner with the BI team to expand conversational analytics across marketing • Identify and automate manual workflows with AI from concept through production • Build end-to-end data pipelines and integrate data into downstream systems • Own the reliability and data quality of delivered systems • Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate ambiguous business questions into scalable solutions • Ship and review high-quality Python and SQL, including AI-generated code • Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and define team best practices

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of working experience in data engineering or AI engineering, including meaningful hands-on data engineering experience • Expert Python and SQL knowledge • Strong hands-on data modeling experience • Experience building and shipping production systems using LLMs or agents • Regular use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor • Deep experience with data warehouse architectures, ETL/ELT, and modern data stacks such as Databricks, dbt, Snowflake, or BigQuery • Ability to independently lead requirements gathering and translate business needs into technical implementations • Ability to identify automation opportunities through stakeholder conversations • Strong communication and project management skills across technical and non-technical audiences • Software engineering background beyond data or AI engineering preferred • Experience supporting a business function such as marketing, sales, finance, or business operations preferred • Experience with Databricks preferred • Familiarity with CRM, marketing automation, web analytics, and CDPs preferred • Experience evaluating and monitoring production LLM systems preferred
