📋 Description

• Serve as a resource for providers in understanding covered indications and supporting documentation • Support technical and professional services in provider clinics, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, and hospital professional services • Understand and support Medicare and Commercial Carrier workflows for daily coding, denial review, and appeals management • Prepare supporting documents and information for appeals • Monitor and validate physician charge capture • Work independently, multitask, problem solve, and make accurate recommendations to medical professionals • Participate in coding team meetings and serve as a subject matter expert • Review medical documentation and assign modifiers, diagnostic codes, and procedure codes • Determine compliance with laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures • Provide accurate and timely ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT coding • Review and audit medical records to substantiate appropriate service reimbursement • Convey coding guidelines to physicians and healthcare providers to improve documentation accuracy

🎯 Requirements

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Certification in Coding required • Certification required: RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, CCS-H, or COC • If not certified at hire, certification must be obtained within one year of the date of hire • Specific knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology • Successful coursework from an accredited institution in ICD diagnosis, CPT, HCPCS coding schemes, medical terminology, or human anatomy/physiology preferred • Computer skills • Ability to interpret, analyze, and abstract data/documentation • Good problem-solving skills • Self-motivated • Good time management and organizational skills
