• Collaborate with component qualification engineers and engineers from other disciplines • Guide the work of less experienced project team members • Work on license renewal and upgrade/modification projects for nuclear power plants • Apply component environmental qualification knowledge to 10CFR 50.49 equipment • Prepare and review engineering calculations • Review vendor qualification reports • Develop specifications • Revise client design basis documents • Support EQ-related client inquiries • Perform environmental qualification qualified-life assessments using the Arrhenius method • Update qualification documentation • Perform linear regression analysis to determine activation energies • Coordinate environmental qualification testing at testing facilities • Coordinate resolution of anomalies with sites and test facilities • Conduct equipment material suitability analyses • Review maintenance and surveillance requirements • Assess EPU and postulated accident effects on equipment • Assess radiation dose effects on environmental qualification equipment due to fuel and fuel-cycle changes • Potentially travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs • Lead engineering problem-solving, automation, process-improvement, and oversight of AI-enabled engineering workflows
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in engineering with emphasis in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program • Ten (10) or more years of experience related to component environmental qualification activities in the nuclear power plant industry • Knowledge of nuclear power plant equipment functionality, materials of construction, failure modes, etc. • Familiarity with NRC IE Notices, Bulletins, and Generic Letters • Familiarity with industry DOR plant requirements, 10CFR Part 50.49, 10CFR Part 21, Regulatory Guides, NUREG and EPRI Documents, IEEE 323, IEEE 383, IEEE 334, IEEE 317, and other IEEE Standards applicable to environmental qualification • Proficiency with MS Office applications • Good written and verbal communication skills • U.S. work authorization; the employer does not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. • PE license valued but not required • Willingness or ability to lead others using modern tools such as automation and AI • Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields valued but not required • Experience overseeing Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel automation valued but not required
