• Collaborate with component qualification engineers and interface with engineers from other disciplines • Guide the work of less experienced project team members • Work on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants • Apply knowledge of component seismic qualification, structural mechanics, foundation load and component mounting analysis, and ASME Code calculations for Section III and Section VIII vessels, valves and pumps • Prepare and review design calculations • Review vendor test/analysis qualification reports • Develop specifications • Revise client design basis documents • Support designers with drawing development • Perform structural analysis and design of steel panels/cabinets, connections, equipment foundation loads and equipment supports, including seismic loads • Perform seismic qualification activities, including reviewing seismic test reports and preparing/reviewing seismic loading analyses • Potentially travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant sites for construction coordination and field verification
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in engineering degree with emphasis in Structural or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program • Five (5) or more years of experience related to component qualification activities in the nuclear power plant industry • Proficiency with structural mechanics analysis using Mathcad software • Experience with Finite Element Analysis using software such as SAP2000, ANSYS, STAAD, and/or STRUDL • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as AISC, AISI, ASCE, ANSI and ASTM • Familiarity with Regulatory Guides and IEEE Standards associated with Seismic Qualification • Proficiency with MS Office applications • Good written and verbal communication skills • U.S. work authorization required; the employer does not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. • MSCE or MSME degree, PE license, and experience overseeing automation/AI workflows are valued but not required
