• Work on major process controls engineering projects for existing and new nuclear power plants and small modular reactors • Design digital systems including PLCs, DCS, touchscreen displays, network switches, and control systems • Develop functional requirement and procurement specifications for instrumentation and control components and systems • Prepare process instrumentation replacement evaluation reports and nuclear modification packages • Design mechatronics and control systems for pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbines, and reactors • Develop P&IDs and System Design Descriptions • Attend client meetings and perform site walkdowns • Mentor less experienced nuclear instrumentation and controls design engineers • Support station outage activities as required • Lead automation and process-improvement work using data, automation, AI, or agentic AI tools, with results checking • Oversee engineers programming or scripting tools such as Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel for engineering-task automation
• A BS or MS in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with coursework in instrumentation, mechatronics and process controls design engineering is required • A minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering for process control systems • Experience in design engineering for nuclear power plant control systems is preferred • Experience with controls system design, including low- and medium-voltage distribution systems and controls for turbines, pumps, feedwater control, and data displays • Experience with power plant instrumentation and controls systems design for either BWR or PWR reactors, including DCS for turbine, control, feedwater control, and data display • Technical knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems for systems design • Experience reviewing design drawings created by others • Willingness or ability to lead others using modern tools such as automation and AI • No U.S. work authorization sponsorship
