📋 Description

• Work in a project team environment with engineers and designers on the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing power plant controls systems • Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve electrical controls engineering issues • Develop digital systems designs involving PLC, DCS, HSI, networked computer systems, and control systems • Prepare functional requirements and procurement specifications for control systems • Design mechatronics and control systems for pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbines, and reactors • Perform critical digital asset cyber assessments and assessment reviews • Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction • Assist the project manager/director with completing projects satisfactorily, on time, and within budget • Prepare and review scaling, uncertainty, and setpoint calculations for digital and analog controls applications • Interface with vendors, perform document reviews, and prepare materials and equipment purchase specifications • Prepare clear and concise technical reports and studies • Independently review design documentation, specifications, calculations, and drawings • Participate in professional Communities of Practice • Mentor less experienced engineers

🎯 Requirements

• BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program. • Seven or more years of experience in the design engineering of instrumentation and controls systems in a project team environment for commercial, industrial applications, with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for modifications to existing nuclear power plants • Selection of equipment, materials, control philosophy, and preparation of design packages, calculations, and specifications • Experience with controls system design including applications for low and medium voltage distribution systems and controls for turbines, pumps, feedwater controls, and data displays • Technically knowledgeable of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to execute systems design • Experience serving as the firm's client liaison in a support or lead engineering role • Experience reviewing design documentation • U.S. work authorization; Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. • PE license is preferred • Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies is valued but not required
