📋 Description

• Monitor daily HIM workflow and coordinate chart requests, retrieval, re-filing, loose document filing, purging, driving processes, and shipment preparation • Prioritize and adjust work assignments to meet established timeframes • Monitor workloads and communicate potential backlogs or operational concerns to management • Serve as a first point of contact and resource for team members regarding HIM processes • Provide departmental coverage during staffing needs • Assist with locating missing charts and resolving workflow issues • Support special projects requested by HIM leadership or administration • Assist with onboarding, training, and cross-training HIM employees • Conduct weekly quality and productivity audits • Document audit results, identify trends and improvement opportunities, and communicate findings to management • Maintain daily productivity and audit statistics • Protect patient information and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy policies • Assist customers, coworkers, care providers, and internal stakeholders with HIM-related questions • Answer department telephone calls and provide professional service • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Experience working in Health Information Management, medical records, or a related healthcare environment • Interest in building a long-term career in Health Information Management • Currently enrolled in an RHIT program or interested in enrolling in an RHIT program • Strong understanding of HIM workflows, including chart retrieval, filing, record maintenance, and related processes • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and adjust workflows based on departmental needs • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality • Ability to monitor productivity and quality metrics and identify opportunities for improvement • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to train, coach, and support team members in day-to-day processes • Sound judgment when handling confidential or unusual requests • Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements and protecting confidential health information • Ability to work independently and contribute effectively as part of a team • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
