• Handle property and casualty insurance losses and claims valued up to $15,000 • Evaluate insurance policies, claim forms, endorsements, carrier instructions, and records to determine coverage • Conduct investigations, gather official reports, consult police and hospital records, and inspect physical damage or written estimates • Interview and correspond with claimants and witnesses • Estimate repair, replacement, or compensation costs • Prepare findings reports and negotiate claim settlements according to carrier instructions • Issue settlement checks, file regulatory documents, and handle salvage and subrogation as applicable • Recommend litigation by the legal department when settlements cannot be negotiated • Attend litigation hearings and participate in depositions as necessary • Revise case reserves to cover probable costs • Maintain an expected caseload efficiently • Use technology and automation tools for efficient claim handling • Send claims exceeding $15,000 gross loss amount to leadership for authority approval • Perform other duties as assigned
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred • Must obtain IIA-AIC designation within 12 to 18 months in the role • Appropriate state adjuster license is required • Three (3) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required • Prior experience handling property and casualty claims is a plus but not required • Empathetic claims handling demeanor • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products • Analytical and interpretive skills • Negotiating skills • Ability to create and complete comprehensive, accurate and constructive written reports • Ability to work in a team environment • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies • Ability to handle work-related stress, multiple priorities, and deadlines • Computer keyboarding and travel as required
