• Supervise multiple teams of workers compensation examiners and technical staff • Monitor colleagues' workloads and individual claim activities • Provide training and technical/jurisdictional direction on claim adjudication reports • Maintain claim diaries, including frequent diaries for complex or high-exposure claims • Analyze and process complex or technically difficult claims by investigating and gathering information • Manage claims through action plans to timely and appropriate resolution • Manage the litigation process and ensure cost-effective claims resolution • Coordinate vendor referrals for investigation and litigation management • Lead team meetings and assign accountability for follow-up items • Gather compliance and claims-processing information for team meetings • Assist with interviews of adjusters and clerical staff and provide feedback to the hiring manager • Assist with monthly reviews of adjuster workloads, identify trends, and suggest adjustments • Administer personnel policies and follow staffing and training standards • Interview, hire, establish performance development plans, and conduct performance discussions • Provide support, guidance, leadership, and motivation to promote maximum performance • May supervise up to three direct reports
• 5 years of claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required • High School Diploma or GED required • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred • Professional certification as applicable to line of business preferred • CA or NV jurisdiction knowledge/licensing • Supervisory experience and knowledge of workers compensation claims • Ability to investigate and gather information to determine claim exposure • Ability to manage litigation and claims resolution • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines • Clear and conceptual thinking ability • Excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion • Ability to handle work-related stress • Computer keyboarding • Hearing, vision, and talking
