• Work one-on-one with elementary school students at partner schools using Reading Partners’ structured curriculum • Deliver tutoring in person or through the online tutoring platform using video conferencing • Review session notes before each lesson • Complete notes after each session • Typically commit to 5–20 tutoring sessions per week • Attend tutoring sessions lasting a little over an hour, including preparation and follow-up • Support students’ learning, growth, and full potential • Build relationships with students and respond to their learning needs • Use affirming language and interact respectfully with diverse populations • Remain open and engaged with read-aloud texts and social-emotional learning curriculum
• Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program • Work study part of financial aid package • Passionate about early literacy and supporting young learners • Commit to a consistent weekly tutoring schedule during school hours (Monday–Thursday, approximately 8 am–3 pm local time, with limited after-school sessions available) • Preference for students who can commit to the full program year (through May/June) • Consistent attendance and punctuality • Attend a Reading Partners tutor orientation before working with students • Sign-off on Reading Partners’ Liability Waiver and Media Release and follow the Tutor Code of Conduct • Complete and pass a background check • Maintain a positive attitude toward learning, diversity, and students • Be open to feedback and coaching; have patience and empathy while holding high expectations • Be able to interact effectively with students • Remain flexible around schedule changes • For online tutors: reliable, password-protected Wi-Fi and access to a PC, Mac, or Chromebook with functioning webcam and microphone
