📋 Description

• Serve as the designated US Privacy and Global Data Protection Officer • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the company’s comprehensive privacy and data protection program • Lead and mentor the privacy legal team, including attorneys and a privacy paraprofessional • Develop compliant legal strategies addressing healthcare privacy and AI • Architect and scale a privacy framework for international market expansion • Advise executives on privacy implications of emerging technologies and AI in clinical settings • Oversee enterprise-wide privacy risk assessments and Privacy by Design in product development • Direct responses to data incidents and breaches, including regulatory relationships and notifications • Advise Sales and Customer Success during complex Fortune 500 contract negotiations • Define and maintain external and internal privacy policies • Partner with the People Team on employee data practices • Establish risk-based AI governance enabling product velocity while maintaining privacy standards • Achieve annual HIPAA and global privacy training completion across the enterprise • Maintain an updated Trust Center/Knowledge Base for customer inquiries • Implement an automated Privacy Impact Assessment workflow • Document compliance for two new international market entries within the first year • Maintain zero findings on privacy controls during SOC 2 Type II and HITRUST audits

🎯 Requirements

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school • Active membership in at least one state bar • 12+ years of legal experience • At least 8 years of dedicated experience in data privacy, security, and healthcare law • Proven track record of leading and scaling privacy teams in a high-growth, global technology environment • Deep expertise in HIPAA/HITECH, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and working knowledge of international frameworks such as LGPD or PIPEDA • Professional privacy certification such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT • Exceptional communication skills and ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable, risk-based business strategies • Experience with privacy complexities of AI and machine learning in a regulated industry • Commitment to secure and ethical data practices • Ability to work remotely, with preference for candidates in the NYC area and periodic travel to NYC headquarters
